John B. Spoor, Jr

Chairman

John B. Spoor, Jr. serves as Chairman of the Board for Asset Insight, LLC.  He is a company founder who has over forty years of experience in the aviation industry and more than 24,000 accident-free hours of flight time.

John earned a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Business Management, from Southern Illinois University, with advanced studies in Aviation Law, and has also earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology.  His business career includes experience as CEO of a major international aviation appraisal firm, Chief Pilot for a FAR 125 operator, and Director of Maintenance for a FAR Part 135 Air Taxi charter company.

Among his many licenses, certificates and ratings, John holds an Airline Transport Pilot License with type ratings in the Boeing B-737 and B-727, as well as the Fairchild Dornier SA227. He also holds a Turbo Jet Flight Engineer rating. John is a certified Flight Instructor for airplane, instrument and multi-engine instrument, and he is also certified as an instrument ground instructor and advanced ground instructor. Additionally, John holds an Airframe & Powerplant license with an Inspection Authorization, and operates a FAR Part 65 Certified Repair Station.

At present, John is a Captain for United Airlines, flying the Boeing 737. He has been a designated FAA check airman on the Boeing 727, and also holds designations as an FAASTeem Representative in operations and airworthiness for the Federal Aviation Administration.  

John has restored many antique classic aircraft, winning prestigious class trophies at events such as EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo, and Arlington Fly-In. He currently owns, maintains, and operates two personal aircraft.

A forward thinker, John has developed major Data Collection processes and designed advanced calculation methodologies specific to aircraft valuation systems. Corporately, he has a gift for “outside the box” thinking, advancing numerous techniques that have since become common practice within the aviation industry.
