July 27, 2020 – Market data is reflecting what most businesses have known – the COVID-19 pandemic has considerably slowed transactions of pre-owned business aircraft, as reported in the Q2 2020 AI2 Market Report. Also, not surprising is the continued decrease in pricing for all categories of pre-owned aircraft, except Small Jets. Asset Insight covers 134 fixed-wing models and 2,360 aircraft listed for sale in the Q2 2020 AI2 Market Report.
By virtue of the limited number of transactions completed during Q2, resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, statistical accuracy was not sufficient to include Make/Model statistics covering the Future Value Trend (“eTrendTM”) in the Quarterly Report. Q2 and Year-to-Date average pricing across the for-sale fleet declined, with the Small Jet segment registering the only pricing increase in the marketplace.
“We’ve all been living in an unusual time, both professionally and personally. The decrease in transactions was anticipated by all of us in the industry,” said Tony Kioussis, president of Asset Insight, LLC. “We started to see an increase in activity during late June, which could bode well for the industry. With the strong quality of aircraft listed for sale, this time should certainly be seen as an opportunity for buyers.”
In addition to the Quarterly Market Reports published by Asset Insight, the company recently began broadcasting a new aviation podcast series covering the Aircraft Ownership Lifecycle, offering the business aviation community the opportunity to select episodes and topics on their schedule, and according to their interest and business segment. “As many of us work from home to maintain safe social distancing, our podcasts allow people to remain connected,” said Tony Kioussis. “These podcasts can also assist new personnel entering the industry; people that would otherwise find it challenging to secure such information.”
